YEAST FERMENTATION AND PURE CULTURE SYSTEMS

This is a difficult to find book for one who is very serious about brewing their own beer.  The book was written by Stephen Laufer and Robert Schwarz.  It was published in 1936 by Schwarz Laboratories Inc.  of New York.  This copy was previously owned by the US food and rug administration.  It has been marked withdrawn.  It has a dark green cloth cover.  The book contains 107 numbered pages followed by the index.  The book contains a previous owner's name in addition to the discard information.  It is in otherwise very good condition.  The height of the book is 9 1/4".

THE NEW ENGLAND COOK BOOK

This is a good old cook book that has a nice variety of classic recipes.  The book begins with numerous pages of advertising.  The book of recipes was compiled by Marion Harland, Miss Parloa, Mrs. Lincoln,  Thos.J. Murrey, and many others.  It was published in 1906 by Charles E. Brown of Boston.   The front hinge is loose.  Otherwise, the book is in very good condition.  It has a pictorial front cover printed on blue cloth.  The book contains 286 pages followed by numerous blank pages.  The book measures 8" tall.

20TH CENTURY COOK BOOK

This is a nice old cook book written by Maud C. Cooke.  It was published in 1897 by The Harmon Co. of Rochester, New York.  It contains a nice variety of recipes for preserves,, classic foods and desserts.  There is even a recipe for squirrel!!  The book is " superbly embellished with engravings in colors and phototype illustrations".  The illustrations are numerous.  There are 608 pages including the index.  The book has a beautiful pictorial oil cloth cover that depicts a late 19th century kitchen.  The book measures 8 1/4" tall.  It is in very good condition with some yellowing to page edges. and a partially cracked front hinge.

THE QUAKER WOMAN'S COOK BOOK THE DOMESTIC COOKERY OF ELIZABETH ELLICOTT LEA

This book has a introduction by food historian William Woys Weaver.  The original book Domestic cookery book by Lea dates to 1845.  This edition is in very good condition with its original dust jacket.  It was published in 1982 by University of Pennsylvania Press.  The book contains 310 pages.  The height of the book is 9 3/8".

This is a later copy of the first American cook book which was written by Amelia Simmons in 1796.  This copy was published in 1963 by West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company.  It is in very good condition It does not have a dust jacket.  There really is a picture of a house fly on the title page!!  The book contains 106 pages followed by some plank pages for notes.  The book measures 9 1/2" tall.

THE STANDARD BOOK OF RECIPES AND HOUSEWIFE'S GUIDE

This book, dating to 1901, was edited by Alice A. Johnson, Mrs. Janet McKenzie Hill, and Dr. Henry Hartshorne.  The book contains several sections.  The first is on cooking, the second is household decorating, a section called the Practical Mechanic contains advice on bricklaying, paper hanging carpentry, and more.  Lastly is a section containing numerous health remedies called the Family Doctor.   Each section is individually paginated.  The book measures 9 1/2" tall.  It is in very good condition with a red cloth cover.  The spine is slightly faded.

IMPERIAL COOK BOOK REVISED EDITION A MONITOR FOR THE AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE IN THE DINING ROOM AND KITCHEN

This book was written by Mrs. Grace Townsend.  This edition was published in 1894 by Home Publishing Company.  There are lots of interesting recipes not run of the mill!  The are are some additional recipes from newspapers inserted within the pages as well as some written by hand.  the book has a wood grained oil cloth cover.  It contains 527 pages.  The fist blank page is detached.  The book's cover is only holding on by threads remaining on the rear hinge.  The oil cloth cover has papers adhering to it.   Pages are yellowed around the edges  and a bit brittle but Ok to use.

SALADS SANDWICHES AND CHAFING DISH RECIPES

This is a cook book written by Marion H. Neil.  It was published in 1916 by David McKay.  The book contains full page illustrations showing food presented at the table in the manner as was done at this time period.  This book contains 262 pages including the index.  It measures 7 1/2"tall.  It is in very good condition with just a couple of small spots on the front cover.
